Applications Page
From Unofficial BOINC Wiki

[edit] General
This page shows the list of Science Applications that are supported and the current Version Number on each of the Science Applications. These pages are an "information only" page. But it does let you know what the version numbers are for the individual Science Applications.
At the present time there is no way to directly tell exactly which versions you are running on the Web Site. But you can look on the BOINC Manager's "Work Tab" to see which version of the Science Application is registered for each Work Unit that is in the BOINC Manager's Work Buffer.
This page is for information purposes only. The Science Applications are automatically downloaded and updated as needed once the BOINC Client Software is in place. This means that you cannot force download of an updated Science Application.
In general, the Version Numbers will agree. But, there are always exceptions. Though the actual executables may have various Version Numbers for the different Platforms, in many cases the actual differences are minor or non-existent. What I mean to say is that though Microsoft Windows® may be listed as Version 4.12 and Linux has Version 4.13; they may be the identical program with only a minor change to accommodate the differences in the Platform.
In some cases, the project may not have an "optimized" application directly available. For example, SETI@Home is Open Source and some Participants have compiled the source for improved performance on the various Platforms. We do explain how to install these "faster" executables in the Category: BOINC "How-To" Guides.
[edit] Project Specific Information
In the following paragraphs we will discuss project specific details.
[edit] Climateprediction.net
This project has two studies under way at the current time.
[edit] Einstein@Home
Though the page does not show it. The project recently began to compile their Science Application with optimizations and these versions are automatically downloaded.
[edit] LHC@Home
There is no support for the Apple OS-X Platform and there are no plans to change this due to constraints on numerical accuracy. It is not that the Apple computers are not accurate, they will return numbers that are different from the numbers calculated on the other Platforms, and even a single digit difference negates the work.
[edit] Predictor@Home
This project has 3 different Science Applications to process work.
[edit] SETI@Home
There is only one Science Application in the SETI@Home Project at the present time. There are several additional Science Applications planned. These includes the AstroPulse and one or more applications for different classes of search including one for data obtained from the southern hemisphere.
