[edit] General
This small segment of the "Your Account" Page, gives you a link to Log-out of the Project's Web Site, shows your "Account Number" for the Project, and lists your Cross-Project ID.
[edit] Line by Line
[edit] Log out
Clicking the "Log Out" link will log you out of the Project's Web Site. This means that using your Web Browser to access a "Restricted Web Page", the Project's Web Server will require that you re-enter your log in "credential", which can be either an Account Key or a Password. Clicking this link gives you the confirmation page as shown in this example.
By clicking on the "Log Out" link you can insure that someone else cannot access your Account Information. When your log-out has been completed you will get the example confirmation that you did log out.
[edit] Account Number
This is the internal number that the Project uses to track you as a Participant within their Project. The main purpose of this number, which is unique by the way, is to differentiate between then two Participants named "Wild Bill".
Statistic sites that collect Participant statistics and then render them for external use may use this number to sort, separate, and identify Participants.
This number is also used to enable you to customize your "Signature" with this statistical data. The details on how to this are detailed in this Owner's Manual in the HTML Lesson { Icon, teacher. }.
In the following table I have listed the Account Numbers I have for the various BOINC Powered Projects:
| Project | Account Number |
|---|---|
| Climateprediction.net (CPDN) | 5994 |
| Einstein@Home | 928 |
| LHC@Home | 774 |
| Predictor@Home | 881 |
| Rosetta@Home | 269 |
| SETI@Home | 1475 |
So, in the SETI@Home Project, my Account Number is 1475; in the Predictor@Home Project my Account Number is 881, and so forth … To allow summarization of all of my statistical information across all of the BOINC Powered Projects I have also been assigned the long string of gobble-dee-gook that means that I am "377005fab83ee6992d0ff9a4cb947fa2" (or whatever) for all projects in which I am a Participant.
The numbers are assigned and as the BOINC Client Software on your computer communicates with the Project's Scheduling Server the Cross-Project ID is "synchronized" so that eventually, you will have only one value. This may take some time, but the changes are done for you so it is nothing to get concerned with for most Participants.
[edit] Cross-Project ID
This is an identification string that uniquely identifies all of the Participants in all of the BOINC Powered Projects in all the world. When you join a BOINC Powered Project, that Project will give you an internal "Account Number" (described above) that identifies you for that specific BOINC Powered Project and another "number" that identifies you for the purposes of most statistics sites.
