Alpha Version

A Version of a software item that is undergoing testing. Alpha Versions of software are the first "complete" builds in the sense that most of the planned features are in place and the software works most of the time when operated in a benign environment. These Alpha Versions of the software are released and are used as the basis for the Alpha Test.
