This is a small icon graphic that shows up next to your name in the message board forums. This is one of the new forum preferences that can be set by the Participant. In the example I show the setting of the Avatar to use, and then a sample of what it looks like in one of the forums.
In general the following constraints exist:
- The image can be no larger than 100 by 100 pixels.
- The allowed file types are JPG and PNG.
- The image cannot use more than 256 colors.
- The file must be smaller than 4 K-Bytes in size.
If these parameters are exceeded the system will either reject the image or it will change it to fit within the limitations above. Because this is a mechanical translation of the image file the results are usually not that, ahem, pretty.
