BOINC Client Directory

The location on the disk drive of the Participant's Computer where the BOINC Client Software is installed. The directory can be changed during the install process, though we don't recommend the practice, allowing installations to locations other than the default.

The BOINC Client Software uses these directories to store the information and programs necessary to process work.

The default locations are:

Platform	Path
Linux	/var/lib/boinc-client/
OS-X	/Library/Application Support/BOINC Data
Microsoft Windows®	c:\Program Files\boinc

Underneath this directory there are additional directories. These include:

• Locale
  • Storage location for locality information.
• Projects
• Storage for the BOINC Powered Projects that are "Attached" to the computer.
• Slots
  • The location of the Work Units that are currently being processed.

Note:

Adding other files, or using this directory for other purposes, can lead to incorrect operation of the BOINC Client Software!
