A "Farm" is a slang term for a collection of computers used to perform a specific or general task. In general, a typical configuration of the computers in this "Farm" will be similar or at least of a common architecture. Note, however, that the farm does not have to be homogeneous to qualify.

Typically, the name BOINC Farmer is used in conjunction with a person participating in a BOINC Powered Project who can also be considered a "Cruncher".

A "farm's" component computers may be geographically close or not. In other words, the farm's owner may have them all at his house, his office, or both.
