[edit] General

Message Type: Information Message

This Message means that the BOINC Client Software had a problem with the data transfer process between the Participant's Computer and the Project's Data Server. This problem may be, like all network problems, a fault at the Participant's Computer, their Internet Service Provider or at the Project's Data Servers.

When there is heavy traffic on the Project's Web Site, or they have just gone back on-line after a service interruption, the congestion caused by many Participant Computers attempting to connect and this may "flood" the server and cause problems with data transfers.

In general, there are usually fewer problems with network traffic on the download side of the data interchange

[edit] Version Information

Line-By-Line Explanation

This message indicates the "File Name" of the file that is to be downloaded, and that the download operation has been started.
During the download process, something interfered with the transfer of the data from the Project's Data Server to your computer.
Now we use Exponential Back-Off to calculate a time interval to wait before attempting to make another try to upload the file to the Project's Data Server.
