Credit And Late Results

This is going to be one of those places where some are going to be upset (mostly, to my mind, because they are looking for an excuse to get upset).

Firstly, all the details of the policy are under the control of the Project that you have joined.

Secondly, actually it depends. If you have returned the Results before the Deadline the Project should grant you Credit. If it is returned after the Deadline the Project may or may not grant you Credit.

For example, if a SETI@Home Work Unit has generated a Quorum of Results, and the Deadline is reached, the Work Unit is added to a work queue for removal from the Data Server. When the Work Unit is actually removed from the Data Server and sent to archival storage, Credit will no longer be granted for that specific Work Unit.

Other projects may have other policies for for late Results. On the positive side, if everyone is late in the first round and the Work Unit is reissued, a Host that is almost on time may get Credit anyway.

With all of that in mind, it is possible because of the timing of when your Result is returned that the quorum rules will be satisfied and for that reason, even if your result passes validation, that you will not get any Granted Credit. This is one of those areas where a project is going to set a policy and that will govern the granting of credit.
