Cryogenically Cooled

A device that is cooled to extremely low temperatures to improve its performance. In the case of our science experiments we are looking to reduce Thermal noise that is produced by the internal components of the equipment. In SETI@Home for example, the SETI@Home Receiver was cooled in this way to reduce the noise and improve the ability to extract signals from the receiver's internally generated noise.
