Message Type: Information Message
This message means that the BOINC Client Software has started up; and it identifies the directory or folder the BOINC Client Software will use for data storage. The format will appear slightly different depending on which Operating System is in use.

Looking at the examples, not the slight differences that occur due to the differences in Operating System, installation type, and Preferences. In particular you should note that the type of "slash" character is different. Also, Microsoft Windows® uses the "drive letter" mechanism where Unix based systems will use the path from the "root" or "/".

- Starting BOINC client version '(version)' for '(os)'
- This message indicates that the BOINC Client Software is starting.
- Executing as a daemon
- This message indicates that the BOINC Client Software was installed as a Daemon (in Microsoft Windows® terms, a service). There is no equivalent message (at this time) for the other installation modes.
- Data directory: '(directory-path)'
- This outputs the location of the BOINC Client Software. Note that the path is given in a normal Windows format.
- BOINC is running as a service and as a non-system user.
- Just telling us the privileges assigned to the BOINC Client Software.
- No application graphics will be available.
- Because the BOINC Client Software was installed as a Daemon no graphics outputs are available.
- Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform
- The Participant's Computer is running a custom version of one of the Science Applications.
- Computer ID: not assigned yet; location: '(venue)'; project prefs: '(venue-prefs)'
- Because the Participant's Computer has not yet successfully completed a Scheduler Request with the Project's Scheduling Server the Project has not yet assigned a Host ID to the computer.
- Note: Because of this, there is not a Host ID, Venue is unknown, and the configuration for the LHC@Home Project is "default".
- Computer ID: '(computer-id)'; location: '(venue)'; project prefs: '(venue-prefs)'
- This message details the basic configuration information about the Participant's Computer for a particular Project. It lists the assigned Host ID, Venue, and the Preference Set that will be used for thisProject.
- General prefs: from '(project)' (last modified yyyy-mm-dd hh-mm-ss)
- This lists the source Project and the time that the General Preferences were updated.
- General prefs: using separate prefs for '(venue)'
- The Participant has assigned Preference setting to a Venue and these Preferences are being used in place of the Default Preferences.
- Remote control allowed
- This message indicates that the Participant has configured his BOINC Client Software so that it can be monitored by another computer on the local network with the BOINC Manager or other similar applications (BOINC-View, etc.).
