A list of common terms, usually limited to a specific topic area. With a Glossary, the individual can ensure that the meaning of the term that they know has not be modified or amplified. In the context of the BOINC Client Software the Glossary is part of the user documentation that attempts to clearly define the precise meaning of the term as it is used within this context. In some cases the explanations supplement the other documents by expanding on the material documented in places like: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), Owner's Manuals, "Read Me" files, and Forums.

There was s conscious effort made to maximize the linking of subject material contained within other documents into this Glossary to enhance the ability of the Participant to ensure that they would clearly understand the precise meaning of the words used. However, in general the words were only linked on the first occurrence within each document section. In the Glossary, within each defined word the first instance of another defined word this occurrence is always cross-referenced to its definition.
