2005-07-05 10:32:45 [Einstein@Home] Deferring communication with project for 3 hours,
59 minutes, and 58 seconds
Line-By-Line Explanation
- This message indicates that the BOINC Client Software is making the attempt to connect to the Project's Scheduling Server.
- Within the Scheduler Request Message we are asking for work to the tune of 57,743 seconds, and also returning no Results to the Project.
- This message tells you that the communication session completed without error.
- But, no work was sent...
- Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
- The reason for no work is that you don't have enough free disk space.
- The Scheduling Server is going to attempt to free space by removing a file.
- The BOINC Daemon is going to remove the file.
- However, this still results in no work from the Project.
- Because of the communications failure, we will use Exponential Back-Off to prevent our Host from "flooding" the Server with communication requests. I mean, if it is busy, maybe we should give it a break.

(4) 2005-05-12 09:55:26 [ProteinPredictorAtHome] No work from project
Line-By-Line Explanation
- Message from server: No work sent
- A Scheduler Request Message was sent to obtain more work, but the Scheduler did not return any work.
- Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
- Because there was not enough space left on disk drive on the Participant's Computer. Without additional space there is no room for the additional work.
- Message from server: No disk space (you must free '(number)' MB before BOINC gets space). Review preferences for maximum disk space used.
- You must free up this much space to obtain more work from the Project.
- No work from project
- So the end result of this exchange of Messages is no new work.

Review preferences for minimum disk free space allowed.
- Message from server: Not enough disk space (only '(number)' MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for maximum disk space used.
- The BOINC Client Software identified to little free space in order to obtain more work from the Project.
- Note:
- The message "Message from server: Not enough disk space (only '(number)' MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for maximum disk space used." might be caused by a faulty setting in the Disk Usage Preferences. If the value for Use no more than (MB) is lower than the Disk space required by the project (see Project Requirement's Table for approximate values), no Work Units will ever be downloaded. Consequently, increasing the value for this parameter might solve the issue.
