A Signature is a way for the Participant to express their artistic side with the use of text or graphics as a close for messages posted on the Forums. Signatures with small images can be created that also show the current statistical information about the Participant.
[edit] Creating a signature
There are many ways of creating a stats sig. Here is just one method. Most teams will provide stats to members anyway.
1. Go to http://www.andyk.de/bws/?page=generator
2. Make your own counter by filling in the three dialogs. I used:
Counter type = Detailed Project = SETI@home, ID for that project = 128547 Style = 3
3. On the final dialog page, note down the URLs/links displayed.
Your generated URL is:
http://www.andyk.de/bws/counter_detailed.php?id=128547&project=seti&style=3
Code to put the image into a HTML-page:
<img src="http://www.andyk.de/bws/counter_detailed.php?id=128547&project=seti&style=3">
4. As we're not allowed to use HTML codes anymore, we must translate the code to BBCode:

5. To make the image clickable to your stats, write:

6. If your URLs are getting too long, use http://tinyurl.com to make them smaller. Here's how mine looks:

7. Put your new and shiny statbox code into your Signature field in Forum Preferences. Note that this field has a max limit to number of characters you can input (hence the tip in #6 above).
8. Test your new signature in the Signature testing thread in Cafe forum of the Project's Web Site.

[edit] Table of Statistics Sites and Signature Providers
Following is a table of the known providers of statistics and signatures. The intent of the table is to list all of the sites that publish statistics that are for more than a single team.
These sites use XML-format data exported by BOINC Powered Projects. The format is described in "Statistics Data for BOINC Powered Projects". If you are interested in running your own site or participating in the development efforts, please contact the people listed above.
