Talk:Catalog of BOINC Powered Projects
From Unofficial BOINC Wiki
[edit] HTML "title" attribute
Is it possible to have acronyms and abbreviations for the project names using the wiki code? in HTML it would be something like <acronym title="Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence">SETI</acronym>@Home, but from what i've read, using HTML instead of wiki-code isn't a good idea
the idea of this is that when a user hovers over an acronym or abbreviation, the full name is displayed as a tool-tip see BOINC section on my site for examples -- Lee Carré 17:07, 27 April 2006 (BST)
[edit] Structure
Just so people know, i've changed the structure of the templates and tables used in this page, the content remains the same, but the linking structure has been changed
the reason for the change is that the current structure is componentised, and will allow easier future-use
If content is not where you expect it (for editing) just edit the page you'd normally edit, and follow the "inclusion" links at the bottom of the editing page, you'll eventually end up at the actual table you're after -- Lee Carré 17:54, 16 June 2006 (BST)
[edit] GPU requirements
It would be nice if someone mentioned not only CPU and RAM requirements, but also whether projects support [only] GPU-based computation. For example, I am currently sticking with Climate Prediction as main project for CPU, and would still like to contribute for SETI@home by means of video card, as long as SETI is able to use CUDA-enabled card while CPDN isn't. But project manager doesn't allow to choose which SETI unit type to request — simple, AstroPulse or CUDA — thus it's impossible to download only CUDA units. That's why I am looking for GPU-only project to join. But all information about BOINC projects focuses on CPU and RAM, leaving GPU details out of sight.
