Hi there, Nicolas. I see that from the admins on this wiki, only you and Eric Myers seem to be active recently. I would like to offer my help in this regard. I have been an editor in Wikipedia for 5 years now, thus I'm experienced with mediawiki. Also am an admin on English Wikipedia and Wikimedia commons, so I also have administrative experience. I could help fight spam/vandalism and configuring the wiki interface through the system messages in the mediawiki namespace, css, etc. For example, I would suggest changing the Recent Changes link on the sidebar to include changes from the last 30 days rather than only from the last 7 days, since the traffic is not too intense here, but as a regular user I can't do that. So, what do you think? --Waldir 13:10, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure if I'd give admin privileges to someone who made a total of three edits, all within the user namespace ;) I suggest you contribute more to the wiki as a regular user and collect some "reputation"...
In addition, I don't know if I have the necessary mediawiki permissions to give other people more permissions.
But thanks for the offer! This dead wiki really does need help to get back alive. Nicolas 20:16, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Of course, I perfectly understand. I don't think I have much to add in terms of content, but I'll try to help with cleanup and maintenance of the wiki. I've added the recent changes RSS feed to my feed reader, so I can stay in touch with what goes on around here. In any case, if you like my above suggestion, you can edit Mediawiki:Recentchanges-url to "Special:RecentChanges/days=30", which will do the trick. As for permissions, you're right, you would need to be a Bureaucrat to give other people permissions, but considering that all current bureaucrats seem to be relatively inactive, probably you or Eric should be given that permission so that new users can be made admins if needed.
Cheers, Waldir 07:08, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
That edit didn't work, apparently because MediaWiki:Sidebar has an explicit URL for Recentchanges. Any suggestions? Nicolas 17:16, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm... I don't see why it is "[{{fullurl:Special:Recentchanges}} Recent changes]". Try changing it to "recentchanges-url|recentchanges", it should work like that. --Waldir 17:32, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Nicolas -- I was cleaning some spam today and noticed the rollback feature would be really useful. What do you think about granting me that? And about the above message, did you get any luck getting it to work? Cheers, --Waldir 18:51, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm still not a bureaucrat, so I can't give you any permissions, sorry. Nicolas 23:02, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Maybe you should be. The last edit by a bureaucrat was made over an year ago! (Christopher Malton, 14 September 2009) --Waldir 07:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Nicolas, Hi guys, just droped in. I just promoted you to Bureaucrat as per Walder's suggestion. Nicolas if you need anything done on this website from the backend, just pop me an email and i will do it as soon as i can. contact - john37309 SYMBOL hotmail STOP com --John37309 00:32, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Second edit, I promoted everyone on the website admins page to the full compliment of rights so everyone can do whatever promotions or edits they want- --John37309 00:49, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, John -- that is probably a sensible configuration for a small wiki like this :) --Waldir 07:10, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Walder, i promoted you to "editor". You seem to be doing good work on this website controling spam and stuff like that. Keep up the good work my friend! --John37309 22:41, 28 October 2010
Thank you, John :) I notice though that I still don't have the rollback right. Was that intentional? I think that would allow me to be even more efficient. By the way, if you have a minute, please delete the pages I blanked for being spam. Cheers, Waldir 22:08, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Walder, i promoted you to editor, Administrator and Forum:Mod, now you have the ability to fix things up properly and delete the bad pages. Well done my friend, and thanks Walder for helping out here! John37309 19:58, 5th Nov 2010 (UTC)
Many thanks for the trust, John. I'll do my best to help the wiki in return. Just a note: my name's Waldir, not Walder :) Cheers, --Waldir 00:13, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

Hi there Nicolas.

I just cleaned up a bunch of spam pages from the wiki. The list at Special:UncategorizedPages is great for finding them because spammers rarely add categories to the pages they create. It would greatly help if the legitimate upages in that list were properly categorized so the spam ones can be more easily found (and of course to improve the navigation among wiki pages. Could you help out by categorizing a few of the pages listed in Special:UncategorizedPages? Cheers, Waldir 12:03, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
