Voice Over IP
From Unofficial BOINC Wiki
[edit] General
Voice Over IP commonly written as VoIP is a method used for transferring real-time voice information over the Internet.
The main application of this is in telephone. The audio information is sent through a process to digitize the information. This digitized information is then broken into packets which can be sent over the Internet.
This process of digitizing the signal and sending it over the Internet can either be accomplished by software or hardware. In either case, for good audio clarity, a broadband connection (ie: cable or DSL)is usually required.
A search on any of the popular search engines can reveal several different companies that offer this service.
