A plain-text file that is delivered to your Web Browser and then rendered into what you think is a page of "stuff" that has pretty pictures and so forth. If you want to look at what the Web Browser sees, take a gander under the menu option (available on almost every Web Browser) that says something like "View Source". The pages you get are created using a mixture of HyperText Markup Language, Common Gateway Interface (CGI), Java, and other technologies to produce what you see.
