Work Generator Daemon

This is one of the core components of the BOINC System. This program is designed to create the Work Units that are to be issued to the Participants. In the case of some Science Applications the work may be a derivative of recorded data that has to be processed to make it into a form that is suitable to be a Work Unit.
For example, in the case of SETI@Home, data is recorded on tapes from the various SETI Receivers and these tapes are loaded onto a server which then processes them with a program called a "Splitter" that forms the Work Units. These Work Units are then issued to Participants who process then and return the Results.
Other Science Applications may create the Work Units by running a program that outputs data based on transformations caused by a formula.
