31st Aug 2009-SETI@home Gauntlet 2009 competition

SETI@Netherlands are hosting a competition on the SETI@home project called the 10th Anniversary Gauntlet 2009 and it will run for three weeks, from Friday September 25th until Friday, October the 16th 2009. The competition is open to any teams that want to compete and should be lots of fun for all.

Any team can enter the competition by posting a message on the SETI@Netherlands forum in the Gauntlet 2009 competition message with their team name. Each team should post a Gauntlet 2009 message on their own website forum so their own team members can register for the competition there.

12th June 2009-New Blog Style News for UBW

The Unofficial BOINC Wiki! just added a brand new "Blog Style" News section to this website. The new Blog Style News section makes reading the latest news on the Unofficial BOINC Wiki! a pleasure for the reader reading the news. The new news section will display the last 5 or 6 recently posted news items on this website making for very easy reading to keep you up-to-date with whats happening! 10th June 2009-External images now allowed on UBW

The Unofficial BOINC Wiki! has just added a new feature that allows users to use external images hosted on another website. This is a major step forward in the right direction for the UBW allowing far more flexibility for users when writing articles to explain stuff.

So now when users write articles, they can use images that are hosted anywhere on the internet. A common place where users host images is Photobucket or flicker.

Here is an example of an image hosted in Photobucket but being displayed in the Unofficial BOINC Wiki!

To add an external image to a page, simply post the url of the image with no other wiki formatting, its that simple!

9th June 2009-Unofficial BOINC Wiki gets new front page

We have given the Unofficial BOINC Wiki! a brand new front page. The Unofficial BOINC Wiki! has long been in need of a good face-lift and we have now added many new features to help to improve the way people find information on this website.

Here are just some of the new features we added;

1. New latest news section with news from the Unofficial BOINC Wiki!
2. News available as RSS and Atom feeds
3. Simple easy-to-view new layout for the front page
4. Visual Icons added to the front page to make it more interesting to read
5. List of the top 10 most popular BOINC powered projects added to the front page
6. A simple "Quick start" part of the front page for people who only have a minute to read about BOINC and get started.
7. Extra links added to the Left hand side navigation.
8. New page added that displays Unofficial BOINC Wiki! logos and banners
9. New Favicon added to the website. This Favicon is a tiny image that should now appear in your browser address bar

Lots more stuff has been added, but lots more stuff still to come.

The Unofficial BOINC Wiki! has just launched its brand new News Section. This new news section is the first step in a series of new initiatives that will be launched on the Unofficial BOINC Wiki! in the coming weeks.
